cruciferous-vegetablesIf your goal is to improve your health and lose belly fat at the same time you must find ways of getting more raw vegetables into your daily diet.

Let’s face it, most of us lead crazy busy lives and it’s just easier to grab a quick prepackages snack such as sweet cookies or salty chips. These types of foods are high in refined carbs and sugar that raise blood sugar levels and lead to an increased appetite and a reduction in fat burning.

Most people think “protein, protein, protein” when trying to rid themselves of fat…including belly fat.

Protein is absolutely essential in the process. Protein takes more energy to burn than fat and so obviously if you are eating protein your body will burn more calories digesting it and you stay feeling full longer.

However protein is not the only direction you should be looking in if your goal is to lose belly fat. Vegetables are an important part of the equation too because they provide you with the micronutrients that you need, taste great and there is literally no limit to the amount you eat (without the added butter etc.).

Although vegetables come in many different sizes and shapes, there is one type that is specifically geared towards fighting xenoestrogens, the toxic chemicals our foods come in contact with such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers that actually cause our bodies to store fat.

These warriors of the vegetable community are called “cruciferous vegetables”. These veggies contain also contain particular phytonutrients that help promote good health.

The most common cruciferous vegetables are cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale, mustard greens, bok choy, radishes, arugula and Brussel sprouts…but that’s just a short list…there are many more.

Cruciferous vegetables have proven to be one of the best types of food you can eat when trying to lose fat…including belly fat.

They are low in calories…crucial in the weight loss/fat loss war and high in fiber which is good because high fiber foods fill you up fester and leave you feeling full for a longer period of time. Because of their high-fiber they have a lower glycemic index meaning they won’t cause any spikes in blood sugar levels that in turn lead to the release of insulin…the chemical hormone that converts calories to fat.

Cruciferous vegetables have high water content so when you consume them, you are hydrating yourself…the more hydrated you are the more your muscles weigh and more muscle weigh means increases in metabolism which in turn burns more calories.

An imbalance in estrogen metabolism is commonly associated with a diet low in vegetables and causes your body to store more fat and can lead to estrogen-related diseases. Cruciferous vegetables contain large amounts of diindolymethane the compound that restores the balance of your estrogen metabolites.

Bottom line is…always eat your veggies and add cruciferous vegetables to your daily diet if you want to kill belly fat.

Are you approaching middle age but you feel as though “old man time” has come to roost in your bones? If so, it’s time to take an authentic look at your lifestyle and what might be siphoning away your manhood way too early.

If your masculinity seems to be slipping away then “Strong Men Stay Young” can help. No man likes to grow old…certainly not before his time but no one can take the first step but you. Don’t waste another day wondering.
