Don’t Leave Money on the Table

money on the table

One of the first rules of sales is don’t leave money on the table.  In other words, salespeople should never walk away from the negotiating table without first pitching their best products.  And any good salesperson knows that if they don’t ask for the sale, they probably won’t get it, leaving money on the table.

When you create an online profile, you are, in essence, selling who you are as a potential boyfriend or date.   Now, this concept is far from selling your services; you’re selling your personality, depth and who you are as a person.  If you don’t present your best attributes in your profile, you are leaving money on the table–missing out on potential connections. Remember, you only have a few seconds to capture someone’s attention online.  So, draw them in with a profile they can’t refuse and keep them engaged with your top products.

The best way to do this is to express as much personality and style as you can in your profile text.  If you’ve been gifted with natural wit, let it shine.  If your smile is the most radiant of all you know, say it and display it.  If you’re an avid lover of literature and a collector of great titles, talk about your library.  If you love college basketball, list your tournament top picks.  The key is to combine your personality with your interests–creating an irresistible package.

You have very little space and very little time to negotiate the start of a message exchange.  Don’t leave money on the table.  Put your best qualities forward. That way you never leave a potential match behind.
