10.  Tokyo, Japan

If you want to party, then you’ll be happy to know that Tokyo has more than 200 gay bars and clubs.  Check out Tokyo’s gay district, Shinjuku Ni-Chome and you won’t be disappointed.  Plus, you can take advantage of gay Japanese men and their decisiveness.  You won’t be questioning whether that guy is into you, they make their intentions very clear.

9.  Montreal, Canada

Le Village (a.k.a. The Gay Village) is the obvious choice for gay vacations in Montreal.  There, you’ll find yourself in the heart of gay Montreal and with easy access to gay dining, nightlife, and shops.  Montreal is well known for its handsome men and scandalous strippers.  If you’re there for a few days, be sure to head outside the village and explore Old Montreal.

8.  Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Amsterdam is famous for its liberal policies on gay marriage and drug tolerance.  Be sure to explore your own tolerance in the new event, Fetish Pride.  It started in 2013 and is held in May for their Ascension Day weekend.  Whether legally smoking pot in their coffee shops or drinking cheap Amstel in their many pubs, Amsterdam has much to offer.

7.  Cancun, Mexico

Cancun has long had a thriving gay scene that includes gay-owned beachfront accommodations, gay beaches, and an active gay nightlife.  Throughout Cancun, you’ll find a number of familiar restaurants and shopping malls.  After 40, you may be looking for something beyond the regular gay nightlife.  If so, be sure to visit the remains of a small Mayan settlement at the El Rey ruins.

6.  Seattle, United States

If you’re into large objects, then travel no further than the west coast of the United States.  Seattle is home to such phallic objects as the Space Needle.  Plus, it’s filled with west coast hipsters sporting handsome facial hair and plaid shirts.  Seattle offers you daytime activities like eating at Pike Market and playing Frisbee.  The nighttime consists of the symphony and then dancing at the many gay clubs.

5.  Phuket, Thailand

Phuket is by far the largest and most famous island in Thailand.  It’s also known as one of the most gay friendly places to visit.  If you visit in February or November, you can attend their Gay Festival that takes place twice a year.  Phuket’s tropical paradise will allow you to leave your trip with a gorgeous tan.

4.  Sydney, Australia

Sydney has long been regarded as one of the world’s most popular gay vacations.  Its biggest draw would be the incredible weather.  Be sure to visit between November to March, where you’ll find plenty of gay men taking advantage of the heat and enjoying Sydney’s many beaches in their skimpy speedos.

3.  Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona’s beaches are usually filled with hot guys and there are a ton of gay friendly bars and cafes nearby.  Sometimes after 40, we focus too much on fitness and not enough on food.  In the evening, Barcelona features a number of excellent restaurants serving up delicious tapas.  Afterwards, take a stroll through the L’Eixample district to find the gay bars and clubs.

2. Berlin, Germany

Berlin has long been recognized as one of the most gay-friendly cities in the world. If you’re looking for gays holding hands or out in full leather, then visit the Schöneberg, Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, and Prenzlauer Berg neighborhoods.  In the evening, head to the Schöneberg neighbourhood, where you’ll find a number of gay bars, shops, and clubs.

1.  São Paulo, Brazil

Every year in May, millions of people attend what is described as the world’s largest gay pride parade.  If you’ve attended enough pride parades for your lifetime, then visit in November for their annual film festival called, Mix Brasil.  Or visit at any time and take advantage of their numerous shopping malls, restaurants, museums, and active nightlife.

After 40, you need to start doing things for yourself.  You’ve got the job, the house, the car, and now it’s time to live it up.  You can take the lazy route and tan yourself on a beach.  You could show off your dance moves in a night club.  Finally, you can take in a ton of culture in a foreign land.  GayLifeAfter40.com has supplied you with our top 10 international travel destinations for gay men.  Now’s your chance to select one, book a ticket, and get on your way.
