Currently living off my savings but for 25 years I was a senior health promotion specialist in Sexual health education, an actor, gardener and am currently the resident musician in my local bar.

Can you tell us a little about your work?

In my sexual health work, I started after losing a friend to HIV, in the end, I lost 14 of my 17 gay male friends to HIV a very sad time. My gardening was amateur until my garden ended up on national television

What are the most pressing issues that face our community today?

Brexit and the sense of community it has destroyed in Europe so divisive

On a personal level, what kind of books do you like to read  and why?

I usually have three books on the go, one to learn from, one cookbook and one novel to escape into.

Who has been your biggest influence in writing?

Christopher Isherwood

Introverted extrovert, private, shy, escapist, intense, hungry to learn

When did you become out to friends and family?

At various times. My brother stole my diary so knew early the rest I came out to in stages but my Mother who I came out to at 28 said she had always know

My parents, they married for love and my Father died when I was 6, they were magical

Good friends, food, live music and wine and no ego and then going to bed to be hugged and wrapped in love

I have literally given the shirt off my back to 2 people who needed them more than me

I play the spoons

What had been your biggest setback or failure in life and how did you overcome it? 

All the deaths, I tried to educate others in not contracting HIV when it was a killer
