The Rain Bow Flag: Did You Know?

The rainbow flag, usually called the gay pride flag, has been used since the 1970s. The colors are supposed to reflect the diversity of our LGBT community. The design has had several revisions. The most common flag has six stripes. The colors consist of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. It is to be flown with the red stripe on top like a natural rainbow. Each color was assigned a meaning.

Red: Life

Orange: Healing

Yellow: Sunlight

Green: Nature

Blue: Serenity

Violet: Spirit

 

You may have noticed that in different seasons of your life you have been drawn to different colors. This is very normal and often represents the different transitions of your life from one phase to the next.

 

 

 

 

It is the study of how the colors of light influence our mood and behavior. In fact people that suffer from (SAD) Seasonal affective disorder often are very influenced by not only the color of the room they may be in, but also the color that other people may be wearing.

Color trends come and go. The people who live in a home make it beautiful by choosing colors that reflect their likes and their personalities. The trick is to blend those colors into a combination that is pleasing. Choosing a color combination can be a very intimidating step to make. Color has the power to change the shape of furnishings and even the size of a room.

Choose wisely. Keep in mind each color has a psychological value. Understand that colors behave in three basic ways: active, passive, and neutral. Light colors can make rooms fell larger and even airy. Dark colors are more warm and usually make a room feel sophisticated and even intimate.

So what does your favorite color say about you?

Red: Pumps up the energy level of the room. It is a good choice when you want to stir things up a bit. Red pulls people together and stimulates conversation. Red can raise blood pressure, and speed respiration and heart rate. Strength and passion are often characteristics of people who like this color. They sometimes show a tough exterior, and may be hiding a soft heart.

Orange: This color evokes excitement and is a very energetic color much like red. This color is usually not a good color for main living rooms it can be a great choice for an exercise room. People that are drawn to this color are usually quite creative and have a healthy sex life.

Yellow: People who wear yellow tend to be powerful, action oriented people. It also captures the joy of sunlight and communicates happiness. In larger amounts yellow tends to create feelings of anger and even frustration.

Green: Combining the refreshing colors of blues and the happiness of yellow, green is considered the most restful color to the eye. If green is your favorite color you might tend to be a good listener and like to help other people out that are in need. Green is a good choice for almost every room in your house. It is believed to relax people and lower stress.

Blue: People who like this color are often very good communicators and tend to be more empathetic. Blue is said to lower your blood pressure and your heart beat. It is often recommended for bedrooms and bathrooms. Be careful light blues can appear chilly and darker blues can evoke feelings of sadness.

Violet: In its deepest values violet is rich and dramatic. It is associated with royalty and luxury. Chances are if you like this color you are somewhat intuitive. People who like this color are usually thirsty for knowledge. Violet gives color schemes depth. Lighter versions of this color can be restful and is a great choice for a bedroom.

In short. these are just general guidelines and a good starting point in search of your personal color scheme. Color choice is always a personal matter. You are the one who must live with your new paint color,so select colors that suite you, your partner, your family and lifestyle.
