Are you dating, living with or married to a closeted interior designer?

Here are a few clues that might help you decide if you are involved with one of these ambitious individuals.

Coffee Tables Are Not For Your Feet Or Coffee

I am pretty sure most of us have a coffee table in our home that we would love to prop our feet up on or place a cup of coffee or a drink on, those activities and many others are not allowed and are forbidden from happening on your coffee table. That’s because in a closeted interior designers mind coffee tables are for displaying decorative items and creating beauty in a room. Really is there any other reason to have an item like a coffee table?

Your Bed Is So Filled With Pillows You Can’t Even See The Bed

This one is pretty straight forward if you can’t see the bed you are definitely involved with a closeted interior designer. Not only will your bed seem to disappear, but at night you will have to remove them before attempting to sleep. These pillows are not for sleeping on. They are in fact only an accessory used for decoration.

To-Do Lists Are A Necessity

Do not worry most of these lists do not end up as honey-do lists. They are lists of lists for themselves to complete. They tend to feel a need to fix things around home, and be sure no stone is left unturned. Many times without these lists your partner might seem to be stir-crazy or absent in conversation. They just want perfection for all of the rooms in your home.

Perfection, Perfection, Perfection

We are of course happy when our significant others creates that perfect space for you to share. On the other hand it can be hard to live with a perfectionist. Life is not always perfect and here is where perfection can cause aggravation. It may also inspire comments like, “Don’t sit on the sofa with your shoes on!” or, Stay off that carpet, I just vacuumed. Honestly!!”

Your Closets Look Like A Rainbow

Closeted interior designers like to keep things organized, but probably in a different way than you. You probably organize by type, size or newest. They most likely sort and arrange by color and pattern. When you look in your closet do you see perfectly planned color schemes and see a lovely planned rainbow of color? Guess What? Having your close arranged by color is not really a bad thing. You will always know where your favorite blue shirt or favorite red sweater is.

Definitely Type A + Personality

Of course the type A’s are always fun to live with aren’t they? Everything has a place and there is a place and purpose for everything. Starting to sound like someone you know? However these types are often go getters and go very far in life. They know what they want and many times get what they want.

Closeted Interior Designers Have A Strong Ego But In A Good Way

They are often very confident people, but not in a bad way. They are just very secure in their own skill set. They know what works and what doesn’t. As a spouse, boyfriend, significant other, you have already learned that they know best, and your onion counts, but not as much as theirs.

They Are Very Intuitive

Intuition is something that is not taught. It is a personality trait that is embedded in the best designers. So when your closeted interior designer asks what’s wrong, don’t even bother to lie. They already know better.

Opps I Did It Again

Did I walk into the wrong house? Being involved with one of these special types of people is exciting and has its perks. Many have the knack or compulsion for rearranging furniture, wall decor and other accessories in their own space quite often. This does of course keep things exciting but waiting to sit in your favorite chair after a long day of work, only to find it moved and replaced by their newest project can be frustrating.

They Never Tire

Resting for them is not an option. As I said before they are very busy people and have a long list of things to do. Don’t be shocked if your closeted interior designer is the last one to bed and the first one out of bed even one the weekends. Taking a break is difficult for your significant other. Their mind continues even when they should be sleeping. New ideas and new things keep popping up in their mind only to be put on the to do list. Perhaps you might want to sleep in twin beds as it will minimize the sleep disturbances.

Creative, talented, dedicated, colorful, inspired are all words we can use to describe your special person.

After all isn’t that a great way to live!?
